Contest Description
The New England and Bermuda District's highest honor for adult volunteers.
This award was created by the 1988-89 District Board in honor of Mr. George R. Whitney's first decade of service as District Administrator. Mr. Whitney went on to serve as Administrator of the New England and Bermuda District of Key Clubs for forty-one years before passing away in 2019. He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Hardwick, Vermont, and he believed that if Key Club and the other Service Leadership Programs were the only Kiwanis initiatives, Kiwanis International would still be the greatest service organization in the world. Mr. Whitney inspired thousands of students over his four decades of service, dedication and commitment, and he created a safe and positive space for these Key Club members to grow into mature young adults and respected leaders. Mr. George R. Whitney was the epitome of a Leader of Leaders and brought out the best in so many youth who are now thriving in their adult lives and careers, passing on his lessons to more generations to come and remembering him always with the utmost reverence and gratitude.
In this spirit, the New England & Bermuda District of Key Clubs seeks nominations of an adult “who has brought out the best in the youth of the New England and Bermuda District by bestowing upon them trust, responsibility, and challenge of leadership in 2023 – 2024.”
